In 2012 the Olympic Games are coming to England. This is not just a sporting event but a global gathering, and it is happening right here on our doorstep. The build up to the games and the games themselves provide an excellent opportunity for our churches to connect with our community. Money has been made available through the Diocese for the Tonbridge Parishes of S. Peter & Paul and of St. Stephen's to appoint a gap year student who will help our churches connect with the community, and help our town connect with the good news of Jesus through the medium of sport and sports based activities.
Our two parishes are looking for a young person who is passionate about Jesus, passionate about sport and passionate about sharing Jesus through sport.
The post will be available from September 2011 until end of August 2012. You will receive line management, have a chance to study on the Kairos Gap Year Scheme in Tunbridge Wells, and there is a possibility of a mission trip (but you will need to raise this money yourself). You will receive pocket money of £40 per week.
There is a Genuine Occupational Requirement that the post-holder is a Christian, and an enhanced CRB will be required.
