What is The SHAPE Workshop?

The SHAPE Workshop has nothing to do with what size or shape our bodies are — it is not a diet and exercise programme, or a self-image course!

SHAPE stands for:
Spiritual gifts
Heart
Abilities
Personality
Experience

We believe that God has made us richly different in each of these areas — and he has done so in order that we can serve with joy in the area that's right for us.

'But in fact God has arranged the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be.'
1 Corinthians 12.18 (NIV)
 
In other words, God has shaped us for a ministry that's just right for us. Yet so many of us just aren't aware of what our shape for ministry is, and as a result are frustrated, serving in areas that don't fit or not serving at all.

SHAPE is a Saturday morning workshop designed to help you start to work out what your ministry shape is, and where you might use it to serve God.

- Who wants to serve God effectively, but needs help with the next step.
- Who is unsure that they're serving God in the right area.

Been there, done that. What's different about SHAPE?

If you've done a 'gift survey' before, don't discount SHAPE. 

• Our ministry shape changes — it may be different than it was.
• The SHAPE Workshop doesn't just focus on gifting, but instead looks at a range of attributes to find a whole and rounded view of how God has made us.
• The SHAPE Workshop isn't focused on filling jobs in the church. It's focused on helping you find out where God has shaped you to serve, and then help you to find your own place for service.
• You take the initiative... we're simply there to help. The only person who keeps any record of the SHAPE workshop is you, and it's up to you how you use it.
• The SHAPE Workshop is followed up by the option of an individual meeting to help you work through the results, if you want it.

What happens in SHAPE?

We understand that: 

• Your time is precious. SHAPE starts at 9.30am and finishes at 1.30pm, so you're free for a late lunch and the rest of the afternoon.
• The day needs to be Christ-centred. There is opportunity during the day for worship, prayer and Biblical teaching on the principles of SHAPE.
• You need to work through your own shape for ministry. You will receive your own SHAPE profile, which you complete as the day progresses, and there will be chance to talk about your response to what you hear with others if you wish.
• The workshop is only the start. We offer an individual meeting with someone who will help you take the next steps in serving God as he's designed you.
• You're worth looking after. Refreshments will be available, including cake!

How do I take part in SHAPE?

In order that we can offer a good follow up to the course, places have to be limited. But don't worry if you don't get on. The SHAPE Workshop is run as demand dictates.
