Look out for details of events in News and Notes, or speak to Row Wills or Doug Spickernell.
Having something specifically arranged to get men together within the church environment has always been a little tricky, especially if part of the purpose is to encourage the invitation of non church goers.
What can you do that is meaningful and yet non threatening?
The first thing maybe is to have a regular fixed night, so that it is easy to remember.
Secondly have a venue that is acceptable and comfortable.
So we settle on the last Friday in the month, that’s easy to put in your diary, and we use both the church community rooms and outside venues.
For sometime now there have been regular bowling evenings supported by a good number of people, so let’s expand on that.
During 2009 we have held a wine tasting evening, and visited a micro-brewery as well as another bowling evening in April.
In the future we have in mind to hold one more wine tasting evening, perhaps a curry evening and maybe a prepare your own pizza evening.
Mixed in with these may well be some more informal gatherings.
It is a chance for men to spend a evening with others of like minds, where you can drop in for a few minutes or for longer if you have the time.
Above all it should be a relaxing time away from the stresses of the day.
