Caretaker

A vacancy has arisen for a part-time caretaker at St. Stephen's Church. The successful candidate needs to have a welcoming approach to people who visit the church during its many and varied activities as they will often be the "face" of St. Stephen's, and the role will involve:

  • Letting up rooms for users
  • Moving chairs
  • Helping maintain the church buildings
  • Co-ordinate external contractors
  • Access for users
  • Keeping churchyard and church paths tidy and accessible
  • Occasional cleaning
  • Basic operation of audiovisual equipment during services and events

The post will involve 58 hours per month @ £7.51 per hour, but with some opportunity for overtime depending on bookings. These hours will need to be flexible and will include evening and weekend working on occasions. The post is subject to an enhanced CRB disclosure.

Youth & Children’s Gap Year Intern*

St. Stephen’s Church is a lively Anglican church linked to New Wine, incorporating people of all ages. For the past 7 years, the Youth and Children’s team have been running the Re:Sourced gap year, which involves working as part of the team and wider church staff throughout the academic year.

We offer different training schemes to underpin your working knowledge of youth and children’s work and to suit. As well as the experience and training, a living allowance is also provided.

Youth & Children’s Senior Intern*

We are seeking to appoint a full-time Youth & Children’s Senior Intern to join our well-established youth and children’s team.

This 2 year post offers the opportunity to be a part of God’s mission in South Tonbridge, working in the church and community whilst developing your learning—gaining a recognised qualification in a relevant ministry focussed study.

The roles of the job include having key involvement and coordination of the children’s ministry as well as regular work in schools, working with young people both in and outside of a church setting and being a passionate and enthusiastic member of the team and church family.

A salary is paid and study time is included.
